  • Kings County Library Reference Librarian and a library volunteer performed community outreach during West Hills College Lemoore Veteran's Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 14, 2018

  • I'm a little frustrated. Has anyone had problems promoting Vet events on Facebook. Twice my paid promotion of Veteran related programs have been turned down. For my upcoming program the press release is targeting veterans because Cal Vet is presenting on their home loan program. There isn't really a way to not target Veterans. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to resolve it? I just appealed their diapproval so we will see what FB says. This is the link to the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/182449102655433/

What is a Cal Vet Home Loan?
  • Greetings from Menifee! I'm so very proud to be involved with such an amazing program, just beginning my training at the Moreno Valley main library and know this is the right place for me to be. Many thanks to all program members and leadership and I'm honored to be a VCL teammate.

  • Also available in Spanish.  If you want word doc to adapt for your library, email me.

  • Hi Everyone,

My name is Daniel Ng at the Betty Rodriguez Library and we just opened up a Veterans Connect Resource Center at our branch.  I wanted to share a video of our volunteers that we are using as a recruiting tool to try and help get more volunteers.

  • Beale Memorial Library, of the Kern County Library, in Bakersfield, had its first-ever Veterans Scanning Party on Wednesday.

  • Josh Dhanens of the Kern County Veterans Services Department spoke at the Beale Memorial Library auditorium on Veterans benefits; 9 people showed up!

  • Beaumont Library District recently received a $1,200 “World War I and America” grant to host events that will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the nation’s entry into the war in 1917.

Beaumont Library is one of just 55 organizations in 25 states to receive funding through the Library of America during the first of two rounds of applications.

In partnership with its Veterans Resource Center, the Library is planning to offer scholar-moderated discussions next year for those who served in more recent conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan to bring their experiences to bear on historical events and texts.

  • Hi everyone--

I hope you all had a terrific holiday weekend. I wanted to let you know that we have added another module (Module 6) to our training for staff and volunteers. This was prepared by CalVet and can used for initial training or as a “brush up”.

You can find this on the training page for volunteers at: http://calibrariesforveterans.org/librarian/train_volunteers.html

  • Hey all! I posted some awesome flyer samples in the "Programming" forum. Check them out!
